triaceng Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Hello to all. I have two older Plastic vertical Injection machines. One is relay logic and the other has an ancient TI sequencer in it. Im going to upgrade both with PLCs. Rather than purchasing a retrofit package, I would like to do it using a PLC like Automation Directs line. Cost is an issue and since I will be doing at least two, I would like to have the source code and complete flexibility. My plan is to add reporting capabilities down the road. I have the ladder diagrams from the TI sequencer, but I am looking for other examples of ladder logic code written for older injection machines. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ak Quote
entertron Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 triaceng, The first step would be to determine your I/O requirements, in order to determine the PLC that will fit your application. Once you have done that, then you can work with the software and the sequence you currently have, converting it to the code that the PLC you will use will require. Here is a link of PLC manufacturers. You may want to do your homework first, before deciding on the controller that you will use. http://www.plcs.net/chapters/links.htm Depending on how much interaction you will have with these machines, you may want to consider an operator interface. This should keep you busy for a time. Hope this helps. God Bless, Quote
