JustSomeGuy1 Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 Has anyone where used VNC Server Function? I am trying to get it set up at my company, but it doesn't appear to be very user friendly. At this point I am only using the free trial version (30 times for 30 minutes). The only VNC Viewer app that actually works is UltraVNC. That only way it works is when you change connection options from Auto to Hextile then you can connect to it. With Allen Bradley and Siemens we are able to use UltraVNC without having to change connection options. Plus we started using VNC Viewer by RealVNC because we could save all the connections and give them proper labels. So we wouldn't have to type in IP Address every time Does anyone have an experience with VNC Function on Mitsubishi specifically and know what VNC Viewer software they used that worked good? Seems like a big hassle that I have to manually type in IP Address and change Connections Options to connect to Mitsubishi HMI when AB and Siemens HMI work with better VNC Viewer Apps that don't require that Quote
Captain10 Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 When it comes to the ease of use of VNC with Allen Bradley compared to Mitsubishi, I hear you. Mitsubishi is somewhat clunky. That being said, I was able to get it to work to showcase its capabilities, but our IT group would not allow me to continue to use the function because they deemed it a security risk. The only VNC software I was able to successfully use was "Tight VNC." It has been sometime but I think the GOT manual mentions the VNC software it prefers which I believe was Tight VNC. But do not quote me on that one. Coming from an Allen Bradley plant to a Mitsubishi plant, there are certain areas that Mitsubishi just makes things difficult, I think this is one of the areas. But that could be just my lack of experience as well. I would try Tight VNC. Good luck to you. Quote
Crossbow Posted September 9, 2024 Report Posted September 9, 2024 I've set up VNC on a GOT2000, used RealVNC Viewer and UltraVNC with no issues and no special setup required. VNC is a standard, any VNC client should yield identical results. Quote
