asteroidehk Posted December 3, 2024 Report Posted December 3, 2024 Hello FriendsWe have a machine that magnetizes the part, to read the current it uses a digital panel meter but you only can see the current in this display. This Panel Meter is obsolete and needs to be replaced, also, the Plant would like to read this current in the PLC (S7-1500).How can I do that. Is there a way to send this shunt current to the PLC?Do you know some panel meter to replace this one?I am attaching some pics. Thanks in advance Quote
Moggie Posted December 9, 2024 Report Posted December 9, 2024 It depends on the output from the shunt. Usually they are marked with A/mV, ie 15 - 50A = 25 - 100mV. You will need to see what your shunt gives out and then with this information you can select the correct analog input for your PLC. In the PLC you would have to scale the input to display the "real" current....... Quote
asteroidehk Posted January 30 Author Report Posted January 30 Hello Friends The actual display has not helpfull information I am thinking in an Automation Direct DPM3-E-A2R-L for this features useful for me: • True RMS for AC voltage and current inputs • AC/DC voltage input 600V, 200V, 20V, 2V • AC/DC current input 200mA, 1A, 5A, shunt 50mV, shunt 60mV, shunt 100 mV • AC or DC powered • 4-20mA analog output on select models With 4-20mA analog output I could read in the PLC the Reading, Through an analog input. There are 3 shunts: shunt 50mV, shunt 60mV, shunt 100 mV, how can I know which one to use? Thanks for your help TechnicalSpecs.pdf Quote
DanW Posted January 30 Report Posted January 30 The replacement meter does not provide a shunt, the customer provides the shunt. The wires on the terminal strip labeled 86 and 87 are shown on the original diagram as 501 and 502 that run to an exterior shunt. Follow 86 and 87 to wherever the shunt is and measure the resistance of the shunt or see how it is marked or identified. Quote
