Tadpole22 Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 Hello, First time working with PCS7 Simatic Manager, and I’m looking to add a new analog tag to the runtime curves. I added it to the tag manager and tag logging functions. I entered all of the tag data, which appears to be correct and working, but I’m confused on what the next steps are from here. Do I need to compile and download for it to begin archiving in the system? Does the compile and download affect the running OS and requires downtime? Thanks
Chris Elston Posted July 9 Report Posted July 9 See if this helps, (copy and paste) Step-by-Step: Adding a Tag with Online OS Download in PCS7 1. Confirm your tag configuration Tag is added in Tag Management (CFC/Blocks as needed) Tag is added in WinCC Tag Logging (via OS Project Editor or directly in WinCC Explorer Tag Logging) Save all changes 2. Open PCS7 OS Project Editor Go to Simatic Manager Under your project tree, find your OS Project Right-click and select “Open OS Project Editor” 3. Compile OS Project with Online Changes In OS Project Editor: Go to “Compile and Download” tab Check the option: “Compile changes only” (or “Compile changes” depending on PCS7 version) Click Compile OS Project This compiles only changes (not full recompile) for online updating. 4. Download Changes to OS Runtime After compilation finishes: In OS Project Editor, remain under “Compile and Download” tab Select your OS Runtime station in the list Check: “Download changes only” (Optional) “Start WinCC Runtime automatically after download” if you want it to auto-restart if needed. Click Download 5. Confirm online download status During download: If your system supports online download, it will transfer changes without stopping Runtime. If it prompts for a Runtime restart, assess if it’s acceptable for your site’s operational policies before proceeding. 6. Verify in WinCC Runtime After download completes Open WinCC Runtime Navigate to your runtime curves / trends Confirm your new tag is logging data
