Swissi Posted March 25 Report Posted March 25 Hi I uploaded tia portal v13 project from ET200S cpu, the uploaded project now is without tags. i asked engineers and the answer was that: during project downloading ,the tags stay in original project file, not downloaded to s7 300/400 families CPUs. Now all the tag names are useless in this project as they are not downloaded to cpu. So will it be problem for compile and re-download the uploaded project back to cpu? Will it be OK for hmi to communicate with plc using absolute addressing only? I don't have the original project files of both HMI and PLC Thanks

It’s true that S7-300/400 CPUs don’t store tag names, only memory addresses. If the logic is intact, you should be able to compile and download without issues. As long as the HMI uses absolute addressing, communication should work fine. However, troubleshooting and modifications may be harder without the original tag names. Consider documenting the addresses to avoid further confusion. Good luck! Edited March 27 by MarlonLane
Swissi Posted March 26 Author Report Posted March 26 Hi Thanks for explanation As the cpu uses absolute addresses, does it mean also the hmi uses absolute addresses ?? Regards
