NS8-TV00-V2 Multi-function switch missing

I have an NS8-TV00-V2
System version 8.41
Project data version 4.00

I'm trying to make a button that achieves the following:

  • Toggle a value by incrementing (like a word button with values 0, 1, & 2)
  • Changes color depending on the value (like a word lamp)
  • Changes label depending on the value

It sounds like a multi-function button is what I'd need but it's greyed out. I can almost achieve this with a word button and word lamp but still can't get the label changing feature. The word lamp's label tab seems to have an option to "switch label according to the address value" but that option is greyed out as well. I'm guessing this is a version issue? Is it possible to upgrade the firmware of an NS8-TV00-V2?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

If your NS8 is System Version 8.4, then yes, you can upgrade your Project Version.

Go to Tools > Convert > Version. It will prompt you to save it as a new project.

Is the value in the PLC?

If so, I would use a momentary pushbutton to increment (and roll over) the value in the PLC. Put the button (hidden) behind a Label. Use the Label as a Message Display.

Thanks! What version can/should I convert the project to? Would I be safe in assuming I could go as high as my system version of 8.41?

Correct, although I believe the versions in the project only go out to one decimal. (8.4).

Ah, I hadn't seen the "Message Display" functionality of the labels yet. I think this might be the way I go.

Thanks again @IO_Rack for all your help!
