I hope this is in the correct thread.

I have purchased a Red Lion PM50 Digital panel meter. I have gone through everything as far as I know, trying to set an alert as the count nears the user entered value in a cut to length situation.

I know some HMIs have this facility but I have not been able to find a way to set a countdown warning as it approaches an entered value in the PM50.

Have I missed something, or doesn't the PM50 support this feature?

Thank you, Rod.

See if what you are looking for is under the "Alarms / Setpoints" section of Crimson 3

Enable Setpoint 1 (or Setpoint 2) for your measurement input.
Choose the action type (ON above, ON below, Window, or Band).
Set your Setpoint value or window band range.

Under the setpoint configuration, assign it to trigger a digital output if your PM-50 has relay or transistor outputs configured.

Hello Chris,

I have downloaded Crimson 3.2 and of course I have no idea how to use it.

I know the PM50D is connected to my network via WiFi and has been supplied an ethernet address from my DHCP server, however I can't get Crimson to see the PM50 in Client mode.

I have been able to connect to the PM50D via the Android app when the PM50 is configured as an Access Point.

I am searching the net, but info is very scarce.

I am sure I am doing something wrong, well, I hope I am.

Thank you.

I thought you might have been the developer. It's not too hard to pick up or there are some youtube videos of course. If this is something you aren't comfortable with, it's probably best to reach out to an integrator in your area.

I have searched but either the videos are out of date or the Analogue version is different to the Digital version.

What entries are needed in Crimson to get the PM50D to show up in Crimson using a WiFi connection when configured as a client?

I have got a bit of experience in Koyo and Maple. I am able to connect to these either from my PC or laptop via a serial / USB connection.

I am looking to use the PM50D in cut to length machines as the Durants 57602 and old Red Lions fail.

Check out this YouTube video.

Thank you. I have seen that video before but I didn't pay much attention to it because it is the Analogue version and the setup / menus are different. I have watched it again and it did have a couple of important tips which the manuals didn't have.

I can now see the PM50D via Chrome but it is very flaky.

However, still no luck with Crimson. Crimson still can't see the PM50D. Find Device still doesn't list the PM50D.

Which method are you trying to connect?

USB-C cable? or Ethernet Cable?

Make sure that if you are using USB, that you , go to Device Manager → find the unrecognized device → update driver → select the Crimson installation folder’s Drivers subfolder. In other words make sure the USB driver is installed correctly.

If you are connecting Ethernet, do you know the static IP of the panel meter? Try the ping test from DOS CMD box to make sure you can ping the panel meter from your computer.

As I have already mentioned above, WiFi. Edge, er, Chrome can see the PM50, but Crimson cannot.

The PM50, as mentioned above, is in Client mode using my system DHCP server being issued with an IP address of 192.168.1.xxx to the PM50D.

I have pinged the PM50D just fine from a Windows 10 and Windows 11. Crimson is on the Windows 11 PC.

I have also just updated the PM50D using WiFi from 1.4.6 to 2.0.0 successfully.

Seems like you are doing all the right things. Red Lion is pretty good getting back with you about technical support. Maybe try asking them what is going on.

I now think that the problem is that Crimson cannot connect directly to the PM50D. It seems that you have to put a Flexedge in between them.
