br33zy Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 I downloaded the JIC menu from hear. I am very new to cad and was wondering is it possible to change the color of the symbols and text? I have tried a couple of things but I really have no clue. Thanx Matt Quote
Chris Elston Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 Just open each DWG file up in the C:/CAD folder into autocad. Then EXPLODE the drawing. Once exploded, you can change the colors etc.. You probablly want to WBLOCK the drawing once finished. I am not sure if you can edit a layer when a drawing is a block. ATTEDIT only edits text attributes within the block, not block properties that I know of.... Quote
br33zy Posted May 17, 2005 Author Report Posted May 17, 2005 Thanks for the response. I will try what you suggested and see what happens Matt Quote
Ken Moore Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 I work with Autocad almost every day, you can customize the blocks, by opening the individual block drawings. When opened this way, instead of insterting, you can edit all the colors, attributes, etc... You do not need to explode it, and you do not have to Wblock it, just save it back to it's original location. If you are working in a drawing and insert one of the blocks, you can change the colors by using the "refedit" command. This will alter all instances of the block in that drawing only. Also if you change the colors and want to update an existing drawing, open that drawing, insert the "new" block from your hard drive, not from within the drawing, you will be prompted to update the block definition, say yes, all the existing blocks will be updated. Ken The above instructions work with Autocad, but I do not know about Lite, never used Lite. Quote
kadeschs Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 And in AutoCAD 2006 you don't need to explode blocks to edit them in your drawing. AutoCAD Electrical is really cool also. Quote
br33zy Posted May 18, 2005 Author Report Posted May 18, 2005 Thanks for the help fellas. It worked like a charm without exploding it. I would love to get Autocad electrical but the company I work for is a little cheap and we basically just update equipment and reuse equipment so we have most of the drawings and just need to redo them.
