jmm0837 Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Looking for input on servo drive preferences throughout the industry. I work for an OEM machine builder and we currently use A/B Ultra Servo Drives. I need a more flexible solution in the I/O of the servo and a lower cost. I tried yaskawa also, but coding it is an issue. I would like to create a system of parts that allow the servo, screen, and PLC to communicate together at the lowest cost possible. We are currently fixed on A/B PLC's as a standard. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, John Mays Electrical Designer Smurfit-Stone Orlando 407-843-1300 x154 Quote
GerryM Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 I have had good luck with the emerson servos. An article simial to what I have used can be found here:Emerson review I talk to the servos using modbus. My favorite PLC and I/O is Automationdirect.com certainly price is an advantage there. They just started selling sevos as well. I have never tried the servos or even looked at them. As far as a system goes, I have heard from a controls integrator i hire once in a while that Mitsubishi systems work out nice for Servo, PLC, HMI applications. i am not sure on the cost. Quote
Sergei Troizky Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 (edited) If the brand choise is yours, not customers, Allen Bradley is never a good value choise. Our OEM company prefers Omron servos. This does not oblige you to use Omron PLC, although they are not bad also. Edited October 9, 2005 by Sergei Troizky Quote
