gravitar Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 My boss has been requesting quotes for new MIG weld robot cells.. Along with the usual brands I recognized was a quote for one I had not heard of.. OTC Daihen. The price is very competitive.. But as you well know price isn't the only (or even necessarily the main) criterion when getting into something like this. Do any of you guys have stories to relate about this particular maker of robotics.. How do they compare with Nachi, Fanuc, Motoman, etc. in terms of reliability, ease of programming, maintenance, and anything else I might not have considered. If it helps, our quote is for a "Aimega" packaged two-door MIG-weld cell. Kevin Quote
Big Country Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 OTC is the very best robot on the market in my book. I have used them all Moto-Man, Panasonic, Fanuc, Kawasaki. OTC Daihen is the best out of all of them they are user friendly and easy to intergrate. I love them and wouldn't use anything else. Their customer service is also great. I promise that you won't be disappointed. The great thing about them is I have one robot that we have been using for 10 years I know of and haven't touched any of the belts or motors, only replaced the batteries when needed. OTC DAIHEN RULES!!!!!!! Quote
gravitar Posted October 13, 2005 Author Report Posted October 13, 2005 Well the boss went out to look at a Daihen weld cell in action, and he was impressed. I think he is leaning toward Daihen. Don't go anywhere, I'm sure I will be asking you questions :) Have you heard of Shockley Robotics? They are the integrator that we got the quote from. Quote
industrialrobotix Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I can vouch for Mike at Shockley Robotics. He is a good cat. Very knowledgable with Daihen robots. I have worked with him on some projects in the past. Quote
gravitar Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 Well wouldn't it figure.. Sounds like a good product and a good integrator.. And I was just told we wouldn't be using them because they wouldn't agree to our payment terms! I wonder what our payment terms are :) Quote
Big Country Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Yeah that sucks I think that you would have been really pleased with OTC. But maybe they will learn their lesson down the road. Quote
