Chris Elston Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Any one else have problems with the D10 Expert photoeyes from Banner? We are "done" with them...not worth the time.. http://www.mrplc.com/products/showproduct....7&cat=11&page=1
TConnolly Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 I haven't used their photoeyes, but I have had horrible luck with their anti-tiedown controls. I quit using them a couple of years ago.
glaverty Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 From those pictures they just kind of look cheap, what were you paying for them?
Chris Elston Posted October 28, 2005 Author Report Posted October 28, 2005 $119.25 was the last price we paid.
gravitar Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Wow.. I've always been pretty pleased with Banner products. Don't have any experience with that particular photo though. What does the local rep have to say about all these problems?
Chris Elston Posted October 28, 2005 Author Report Posted October 28, 2005 Just that they are sorry and have been VERY HELPFUL either exchanging them or taking them back. We exchanged quite a few, but now jobs that have been in the field for about 3 months causes us "warranty" service calls to replace their product. It's one thing for a product to fail before it ships, and another if it causes you an airplane ticket to replace a sensor....
Big Country Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 I like the Keyence version of this product in 5 years I may have repalced 3 of them. Just from them wearing out. I believe that the part # is FS-V20
glaverty Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Wow, those things look like something you would get at the automation dollar store. For $120 I would expect them to be a lot better. Is it a new product line?
Chris Elston Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 It was a new product line not too long ago, maybe about a year old or something. I have switched to Keyence as well. FS-11 or FS-21 are the ones that we are using now. Actually, I've been using Keyence off and on, but now I changed our internal spec to Keyence everything...Keyence was very aggressive at earning our business and was out to beat out every price in sensors they could. Might be worth a call to your Keyence guy if your an OEM.
TechJunki Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 (edited) I have used a few of those 6-7 and have not had any problems thus far. 1+ Years and still working with a just a few adjustments........... What type of problems have you been experiencing?? Edited November 1, 2005 by TechJunki
Chris Elston Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 When these first came out, they had LCD screens. A bunch of LCD screens failed, the LCD would stop displaying or displayed freaked out numbers. Then Banner changed the LCD to LED 7-segment type displays. These still fail often, and now we are finding a bunch that fail in the field that we have to "tap" on them to make them work.
IO_Rack Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Maybe you need a bigger hammer. Seriously, we've been using Keyence and Omron for many years. We have many on our machines for over 15 years without missing a lick. Unless they recieve physical damage, I don't believe I've ever seen one just go bad. Thanks for the info.
