away from home Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Can anybody help me. I have 8 repeators on one DP line. I can view the program at two repeators (the first two). I can not get on line or view the program at any of the other repeators after the first two. The third repeator will do nothing or give me an error that it can not set the parameters. All the other repeators tell me that there is no connection. I would really appreciate some help!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Wize Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Can the PLC see the nodes past the third repeater? Have you tried swapping the repeaters (eg, swap 1 and 3 over) to see if its a faulty port? Quote
JesperMP Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 There cannot be more than 7 repeaters in one Profibus segment (line structure). If you split into several segments (tree structure) then there can be combinations with more than 7 repeaters. Anyhow, 8 repeaters sounds like you have a "special" case. Please provide much more detail about your network. Line or tree ? Exactly what layout. What are the distances ? What is the baudrate ? Quote
