rajsiyer Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 Hi guys.. I'm just back from Ukraine. A most beautiful country with warm and friendly people. I was working on an ABB 07KT97 controlling a whey processing system. i wrote programs for Ultrafiltration Nano filtration and reverse osmosis systems. What I observed there, was a country which had been highly industrialised in the past, but now caught on the wrong side of the digital divide as far as competitive manufacturing goes. Their engineers too are pretty good with basics and have a thirst to learn about PLCs, automation etc. Their pay is horribly low i.e around $ 200 a month being considered decent. However, they are actively investing in infrastructure. I think their food processing and dairy industries will rapidly modernize in the next 10 years during which there will be abundant opportunities for automation engineers from anywhere in the world. For Instance, I'm from India. There's however a language problem. Ukrainian is almost like Russian. Within a month, I had to pickup more than a smattering of the lingo. I was helped greatly by the beautiful piece of translator software "Magic Goody" using which I effectively 'spoke' with them. The Scada was ABBs SCADA Portal, based on Visual Basic. It was quite clunky to use with pathetic animation capabilities. It cant ever come within shouting distance of InTouch, or Intellution. To all buddiesat Mrplc.com, I'd be glad to field queries about Ukraine, AC1131, and SCADA Portal Regards, and best wishes for a successful career in the automation world to all those who visit MrPlc.com Raj S. gravitar Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 All the Ukranian women I've ever met have been hot. What did you observe over there? Are they ALL sexy, or is my observation an anomaly? Quote
rajsiyer Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 Right you are gravitar.. The Ukrainians are indeed good looking, with distinct Slavic features, just like the Russians. But when in Ukraine, do respect their culture and do not make unwelcome advances. The people are warm, hospitable and communicative by their very nature. Raj S. Iyer Quote
vinod.mojar Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 [but when in Ukraine, do respect their culture and do not make unwelcome advances.] Some says that " where you are, behave like that means." By doing this only we can respect anyones culture. is it Mr. Iyer Quote
