ManchesterPete Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 We are running a machine which has a motor controlled by a Freqrol U100. Every once in a while, the controller simply stops drive to the motor, and the message rHN appears on the controller displpay. When power to the machine is switched off, the controller resets after about a minute, and the machine can be restarted. Mechanically the machine is fine. The motor is not getting hot, and I can't find any other problems. I can't find rHN in the manuals which I've downloaded, nor elsewhere on this forum. Can anyone help? As you may have guessed, I'm not a plc technician! Quote
FNMdeJong Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 In a Freqrol U100 the displayed message E.RHN actually means ETHM. Rhis is an indication that the inverters internal electronic thermal relay functioned. A current that was 150% or higher of the set current flowed causing an inverse time characteristic. So this is a motor overload messsage. possibility's : Reduce the load, Check the cooling of the motor, Make sure the motor fits the inverter by parameters Quote
ManchesterPete Posted January 24, 2006 Author Report Posted January 24, 2006 I've now found that rHn is actually ETHM meaning an internal thermal relay has functioned within the inverter. I have set up a cooling fan to physically cool down the inverter, but does this error message mean the unit is on the way out? There does not appear to be anyway to reduce the load on the motor. The motor operates a main drive shaft which in turn operates several functions on the machine. The one area where I can control the load has been backed off until the minimum amount of pressure is required to be provided by the motor driving a camshaft. The motor itslef is barely warm to the touch however I have ensured that cooling is improved. As for the inverter parameters, I'd be out of my depth unless someone could help. Thanks for replying anyway! Quote
