Hi all I am hoping for some help with medoc (2.4). I Know that it is a bit out of date now but for reasons of compatability across the company I work for, and the odd F1 still in some machines, we still use it. I have been trying to to some online editing on an A1s but I found it very difficult to tell if I was actually in on-line edit mode. I pressed "Alt-O" at several times but never saw any indication i was in online edit mode. I did manage to make one on-line change when I pressed F7 to convert changes made a short message "making online changes" or similar flashed up. But I could not repeat it. Can any one shed some light on the exact sequence of keypresses required to achieve on-line editing. Another issue seemed to be that after making the change on-line and saving the program in medoc the plc program could not be verified against the saved program. A difference would always be shown involving the logic that was changed. I came across a similar issue with a timer that had been added then deleted on-line. It could not be found in the pc program but appeared as an error when a verification was attempted against the PLC Program. It's as though on-line editing can leave "ghost" logic in the PLC! any help any one cheers ian

When the cursor is in the ladder editor working area, the Offline or highlighted Online is indicated in the screen header top line. Note that when the cursor is in menu area, Alt-O has a different function- it switches the screen to monochrome mode. The normal mode may be than restored by Alt-N. There is no undo for online edits. Concerning verification- did you save the project after online changes? You might save the old version which does not match the one in the PLC. Edited by Sergei Troizky

From memory (mine that is, not the PLC or PC), say you want to insert a line: [F2] - to move to the ladder edit area Alt-O to go into online edit mode. [F3] then cusor up or down keys then [F3] to select a portion of the code you want to modify - (I always do it in instruction editor as you can see more of the code) Those lines should now change colour. Move cursor to the point (within the colour changed lines) where you want to insert the line [F5] - Insert mode, then insert line then [F5] or ESC to come out of insertion mode. [F7] - to write the changes you made to the PLC Pretty sure that then brings you out of ONLINE CHANGE mode, so repeat process for other changes. It works well and is less "buggy" than on line changes in IEC Developer V7.02 - which can still give me "out of memory" messages when checking a POU

No, in ladder editor no need for F3 or F5. You just position the cursor anywhere on the rung to be edited and start with F7. The same F7 ends the editing. This works absolutely equally in Online and Offline modes. Edited by Sergei Troizky

Hi Sergei & Colin Thanks for your replies I will Have Another try Tomorrow at work. I read a recent post on PLCS.net from "Goody" in the UK saying that although Medoc would work OK with later Mitsi Plc's It was not perfect and would incorrectly report memory sizes and had some other issues. I am sure I saved the Program in the PC before comparing it with the plc. I was so concerned I reloaded my backup of the original program when I could not get a good verification. ian
