Hi, I have a Windows CE based Xycom HMI that is not technical supported by XYCOM anymore as it is a disscontinued product, anyway, I tried to locate the software tool to develop an application. Calling with Xycom people I realize that the don't sell this software anymore, so they kindly gave me access to their ftp site to download the software package which I tried to install without any sucess because of the CDKey it requires. Then they told to cantact Indusoft people to get this Key. I've been calling to Indusoft getting any success yet (I'm still trying to get the right person to support me on this) This is way I'm asking for any help on this matter. May be one of you guys have some information that could lead me to the right person in order to get this running. The software package is DesignStudio. Thanks in advance!!! Ismael Edited by iarglez

After several PM's between the moderators and administrators we have reached an understanding. Since they and the owners of this forum are a legal entity any post which details how to potentially defraud or harm a controls vendor or other company is deleted under the illegal activity TOS for security reasons. They and I can emphathize with your predicament. In this age of corporate mergers and ever expanding technology support for products often expires before their usefull life does. Try to get Windows 3.1 or Windos 95 support from Microsoft although I know of several PC's still running this OS. While I cannot offer any explicit direction in your case for fear of again violating the TOS agreement, let me provide the hypothetical suggestions that follow. 1. First make every attempt to contact the vendor even if this means chasing thru reams of merger documents to learn that Partners_A whcih built the product were bought by Mom_and_Pop_Corp_B who was in a hostile takeover from Conglomerate_C and then spun off into Diversified_Venture_D. 2. Failing at item 1 explain to your management that they should use another control device since to get this one running you ight have to resort to questionable copyrght activities. 3. If you lose at item 2 then insist that your coprorate legal department or personal lawyer review any further actions youmplan to take. They may advise the company to establsih an escrow account in the amount of the anticipated license fee were it available. The interest and principal could be paid to settle any legal action. The amount should be based on current pricing from the present company. 4. Finally if your company insists and will back you asnd you are comfortable there is a whole "Dark side of the web" which we will not discuss in this post where you can find persons qualified to reverse engineer and make your product functional. Some do it for free and some charge a fee. Let me encourage yu to be very wary of the "dark side" as most persons found there lack the moral and ethical fiber to restrict their activity to ony last resort hacking and often cross the line into "Black hat hacking" In closing I hope you do find the right people at Indusoft or someone on the forum who will sell you their package key and all that the no longer use.
