Roth Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Has anybody used a Q series Serial Communication card QJ71C24N to talk to a third party device before. I'm trying to get some values (i.e. oil temp, control mode, etc.) from a York compressor via a COMSAB II interface. I've read the manuals which are a little confusing. The message format required is as follows; 'STX-CODE-INDEX-POINT-DATA FIELD-ETX' where, STX = Starts Telegram CODE = Indicates Read or Write Telegram INDEX = Compressor No. To Talk to POINT = Address of Variable Required DATA FIELD = Variable Value ETX = Ens Telegram Any pointers on how to frame this message for sending and receiving information or some sample code to get me started would be appreciated. waynes Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I would specify the header and terminator that you have, and just fill in the junk in between. The Mits plc cards have these type of setting on them. I have not used the Q 232 interface module, only the FX2N. I would assume that you would need to set the card to only do freeport/ no protocol mode. Check that you are sending the correct info the the York compressor with another port connected to the PLC card and a Hyperterminal or similar session. Sorry, do direct answers from me. Maybe the pointers that helped me will assist you. Regards, waynes Quote
