Contr_Conn Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 (edited) I thought it is me, but looks like I see other posts like this with empry spaces about inch high between lines. Every time I post, I have to go back and edit post to remove double and tripple <Enter> lines to make post readable. Same with PMs: they look like "long but empty story book". This started day or two ago - Chako please take a look. Here is an example: http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?s=&showt...indpost&p=34543 Edit: and look at this post same thing! Chris Elston Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Which editor are you using? The Rich Text Editor or the Standard? Two days ago, we upgraded the forum software from version 2.1.4 to 2.1.6 see footer. Quote
Chris Elston Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 So far, if I do an ENTER after a line in FireFox, it's normal. ---enter hit here Any other Firefox people confirm this? Quote
ssommers Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Ok guys... I think I figured it out. IE6's editor gives me a double enter if I hit <Enter> and a single enter if I hit <Ctrl-Enter>. (It's the same thing my webmail does.) Firefox's editor gives me a single enter every time. For now, I think I'm switching to Firefox. Quote
PdL Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Having the same thing here with IE6. Didn't really notice it was consistent but indeed. <Ctrl-Enter> does not work for me though. Seems there is a space line by default. But as far as I remember it was also there before in v2.1.4 ?!?' I don't want to go Firefox though... the gf doesn't like it and I have to admit I'm not to crazy about it either... Quote
Contr_Conn Posted May 26, 2006 Author Report Posted May 26, 2006 I am using IE6 in XP SP1 or SP2 It was not a problem until 2 days ago Quote
Chris Elston Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 We upgraded, "patched" some files two days ago. That's the difference. Quote
Contr_Conn Posted May 27, 2006 Author Report Posted May 27, 2006 (edited) Something is not right <Enter> These extral lines look very strange <Enter> Short PMs taking full screen. Firefox test <Enter> Previous post was in IE<Enter> See the difference? Edit in Firefox: I actually added new post and 3 lines were added to the previous post ... This can't be right... Chris Elston Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 What happens if you change to STANDARD text editor? Quote
PdL Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Using standard editor <ENTER> Seems to be ok.... <ENTER> So it's related to the Rich Text editor. One step closer... Quote
TimWilborne Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Standard text editor single enter Standard text editor double enter What is the different between the standard text editor and the rich text editor. I notice I have to right click the text area for IESpelling. What else is different? Quote

Bob O Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Reply typed in word. Copy and paste in reply window with default settings Using FireFox Font Normal Arial Narrow size 10 I have always had problems with the double space Quote
Chris Elston Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I can confirm the problem is with IE only and rich text editor. It's always been a problem. I changed the source code to the old 2.1.4 version and did the same thing. I have posted a bug tracker at Invision, I am awaiting a response. For a work around, please use either FireFox browser and Rich Text Editor, or change your editor to Standard mode if using IE. This should fix the problem for now. I'll post back if I hear anything. Contr_Conn Posted May 27, 2006 Author Report Posted May 27, 2006 Standard editor is fine for me, as long as I can copy and paste. I am not complaining, just see this as a bug that should be addressed I guess. I never saw this before until the upgrade, I went back to my old posts and PMs and it did not exist. I was not sure if this happened because of upgrade or hacker activity, that can be much serious issue === This post typed in Standard editor IE6 with single return. Quote
TimWilborne Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I didn't have the double line problem till the upgrade. I'm fine with the standard editor. The only difference I can tell is spell check icon is not there. Right click and problem solved Quote
TimWilborne Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 The only other difference I can find between the standard and rich editor is the formating such as bold, italics, underline, hyperlinks, etc are not hidden. A little confusing but don't see why IE users can't use the standard editor for now Quote
Chris Elston Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 We've patched this up. Let me know if it works. Remember to empty your browser cache and any temporary internet files before testing it. Test <---one enter Test <---two enters test Quote
TimWilborne Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 (edited) Rich text in IE single enter double enter The standard editor was starting to get annoying. Thanks Chakorules Edited May 30, 2006 by TWControls Quote
