I would like to layout my node numbers in such a away that allows for some spare devices. Example: Robot 1 = node 1 Robot 2 = node 2 Robot 3 = node 3 Robot 4 = node 4 Robot 5 = node 5 Input module 1 = node 11 Input module 2 = node 12 Input module 3 = node 13 Input module 4 = node 14 Input module 5 = node 15 SMC Valve 1 = node 21 SMC Valve 2 = node 22 SMC Valve 3 = node 23 SMC Valve 4 = node 24 I seemed to remember some device net master cards not really liking skipped node numbers in the scan list. Does this hold true in Profibus as well? The only benefit is cleaner housekeeping later on down the road... any thoughts?

You may number them in any way you like, just do not go over the max and do not give two nodes the same number.

Ok thanks. It wasn't really a stupid question, I've just had problems before in other vendor hardware that required me to number the nodes in sequential order rather than skipping node numbers as describe above for "organizational" reason only. Thanks for the help. It's good to know that GE actually makes sense and doesn't balk at it much.
