TimWilborne Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 We are going to be getting some new equipment in and we were just discussing lowering the incident energy of an arc flash. Currently a Class J and a Class RK1 have about the same current limiting capablity but I have heard that fuse companies are developing fuses to reduce arc flashes even more. Would we be best to specify a Class J, a Class RK1 fuse, or do you think that fuse companies will make the new arc flash fuses available for both a Class J and a Class RK1? Quote
TimWilborne Posted June 16, 2006 Author Report Posted June 16, 2006 Well I talked to a fuse manufacturer and they said specify the Class J fuse. They will probably develop RK1 fuses to reduce the incident energy too but it will only be recommended as a retrofit of older controls. Class Js technology will be developed quicker Class Js should be used on all new applications according to them Quote
