elo Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Looking at installing either a Accusort Axium X or a Sick CLV 490. Will be talking over ethernet to a PLC 5. Anyone have any comments or experience with these scanners? Either one will work in my application. Thanks, Mike. Quote
BobLfoot Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 I've not used the Axium X but have used other Accusort Scanner with good success. Also have used the Sick CLV 490 and was pleased with their support and function. I wonder though if you are making an erroneous assumption. Anytime I've seen the CLV 490 connected to a PLC 5 it was by Serial. Ther ethernet format of the PLC 5 and the format of the CLV 490 are not compatible unless the Latest Ethernet processors have changed this. Others who understand ethernet better than I can elaborate. Just be sure you get vendor committment to make it work. Quote
Groo Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 We're using the Sick ones now, it passes the barcodes to a Siemens PLC via Profibus, I've also used them with serial. Never asked about ethernet capabilities. Quote
Smoke Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 We mostly use Keyence we changed from Sick the Keyence can read a poorer quality barcode. Quote
