sid Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 I want to program FX1N PLC with my laptop at field, but my laptop is not having COM port, my computer vendor suggest me to use USB to COM port converter. I am not sure that this converter will program my PLC or not. Quote
davefinic Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 I use a USB to serial convertor and have not had any problems with FX plcs I have also seen the PCMI card adaptors which were troublesome and looked very fragile for on site progamming Quote
Crossbow Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Keyspan USA-19H or CP Technologies CP-US-03 will both work fine with Mitsubishi. Do not use Belkin or IOGear... Quote
308guru Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Keyspan adapter works awesome! I've been using one for a while now and haven't had a single problem with it, or connecting to a plc. Quote
Big Country Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I have the same one and no problems here either I love it when things just work. Quote
Tolnak Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Was wondering. I just hooked up a Keyspan USA-19 (got it some time in the late 90s early 2000) downloaded the drivers, installed drivers, and still could not connect to a FX2n PLC using SC-09 cable running GPP v5. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Tolnak Quote
Goody Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 That might be your software. I had a few problems with just a serial port with gpp-win. Mainly connecting to some 'A series' through a 'E series' HMI. I lost connection frequently - it used to scare the hell out of me when altering code online With GX dev I have never had the same problem Quote
Tolnak Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Hmm, gonna take this thred a bit off topic. I have a copy of GX dev 8 on another machine but, I don't have the install disk. Is there a way to move a copy of GX dev from one machine to another? Tolnak Quote
Crossbow Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 There is another option for the FX1S/1N/2N/2NC/3U. It's the FX-USB-AW, which is a cable that goes into the 8-pin round plug on the PLC and is USB on the PC end. As for the moving a GX-Dev from one PC to another, yes you can move your license from one to the other. There is a process for this. Contact MEAU support at tsg@meau.com and they can email you the process. But if you don't have the install disk, you can't move it. You'll need to reinstall it on the new PC and then move the license. So until you have the CD, you're SOL... Quote
Tolnak Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 I figured as much with moving the license. Thanks for the help anyway. I will say that I downloaded the GX dev 8 demo, from this site, and it is working fine with a Keyspan USA-19!! So, I'll have to get a new copy of GX dev 8 hehe. Thanks for all the info and help, Tolnak Quote
ecca Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 I have to carry 3 USB to serial adaptors around with me ! One works with Mitsi but not with Klockner etc. They're certainly not a standard item. Quote
vaibhav Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 for all the communication problems i suggest you all to go with the serial port pc only which will never give you problem. or else use PCMCI serial adaptor which also works better. thanks Quote
Alexey M Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Sorry, but I'm not completely agree with vaibhav about PCMCI adaptors. Couple months ago I tried to use such adaptor and with GX IEC Developer it worked fine, but it didn't work with GT Designer, so I was unable to download project to the GOT panel. Quote
