high speed counters for dummys

I am trying to understand how to program a HSC for IC200UDR005 processer. I have read the GFK1645E.PDF manual and I'm still where I was to begain with. I just whan to program for a counter wheel connected to a 100 ppr encoder, at this time a type A input. although I think I will in the future want to switch to quadrature to provide feed back for a PID to control the wind speed at a constent speed. hi.. first u configure hardware configuration. u change the operating mode to "counter" then u download the program with hardware configuration. put the PLC in run mode. u will see the counts when wheel rotates in %AI 2 or the word which u defined in H.W config. make sure that 24 DC input is coming from ur High speed source to PLC...i mean...observe the LED flickering.
