Renton Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Hi all Im new to this forum and to Plc,s so go easy on me please I have a A2S plc and a E910 touch srceen running here and my problem is that since last week the E910 has started taking an age to boot? it can be up to 10 minutes but normally about 5, the plc seems to start up ok as all the usual I/O lights are on, but the E910 just stays blank. Eventually it will come on, go through its normal boot tests and every thing will run fine, no errors?? This is a bit of a pain to be honest but not a major problem, but im a little worried it maybe the start of a more serious issue. I have tryed reseating the comms cable with no joy. I have back up copies of all software and there is a copy of GX developer somewhere, but im not really up to to much messing. Any suggestions before i call some1 in?? Thanks very much in advance
Colin Carpenter Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 I've got an E900 that does the same trick .... if you listen carefully, you can hear a clicking noise and if you look carefully, you may be able to see the cursor advancing down the screen. Spoke to the lads at LC Automation and apparently it's a sign that the power supply is starting to get "tired". They have them on the shelf and they cost around £190. Once it boots, it's fine, so can you just leave the HMI powered up?
Crossbow Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Sounds like the E910 is not communicating. Might be a problem with the E-terminal or the cable to the PLC.
Colin Carpenter Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 If it's a communication problem only, then the E910 will always boot, but will show a comms error when trying to communicate with the PLC and will stay with a backlit screen which enables the boot screen to be read, but obviously stating that it cannot communicate with the PLC. The E900 that I've got won't even light up the screen and clicks a random number of times until it fires up and all is well. Then it's fine until the next time .....
