Bob O Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 I found this yesterday while looking for free invoices on line. Maybe those that are starting a new business could find it useful. I have downloaded it but it is about 300 Mb http://ideawins.com/downloads.aspx
TimWilborne Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 I downloaded it the other day too. Looks nice. You do have to purchase the payroll module I think I'm going to start using it
Bob O Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 I am looking to use it for just a customer database and invoicing. I am thinking about starting a small business completely unrelated to this field so it may work out good for me.
TimWilborne Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Upon further evaluation of MS Office Accounting Express 2007 I will have to use Chakorules term and say it blows chunks I would not recommend it to anyone in our industry and am now evaluating Quickbooks TW
Ken Moore Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I know several small outfits that are using QuickBooks, they all give it high marks.
TimWilborne Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 My biggest problem with MS Accounting is you can't track jobs very well. As far as reporting if you want to know your overall picture and print pretty spreadsheets for the bank MS Accounting is fine. But if you really want to know how you are doing on various types of jobs then it is worthless. For example not only do I want to know information on a per job basis but I also would like to compare how I do on jobs based on how I was awarded them. If it is a customer that I must drive and physically call on compared to some of my internet based customers. I can deal with lower margins if I can sit here at 2:00 in the morning when I should be sleeping and send emails and write code snippets compared to driving around burning gas Then there seems to be some issues with its SQL database.
Bob O Posted February 23, 2007 Author Report Posted February 23, 2007 I think their SQL db is causing problems with my RSView32 and data logging on my test machine at home.
TimWilborne Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Also make sure you create a backup file and then copy it for your backup instead of copying the data file with your normal backup routine. The actual company files are not where you specify where your company file should be. Only the information to get to your company file.
