EDIT: If you would, please make a comment about what you do as well as voting. Just curious to see what industries the members of this forum come from. I'm currently working with Schreiber Foods Inc, the world's largest supplier of private-label brand of natural cheese, processed cheese, and cream cheese. We supply cheese for almost all store brands and the food industry, such as McDonald's, Arbys, Subway, Sysco, etc. I've been with Schreiber for 3 1/2 years now and became the plant PLC specialist 1 1/2 years ago. Our plant primarily uses Allen Bradley PLCs. I'll also be graduating from the local college (Texas A&M) this coming Saturday, so if anyone has any generous offers or knows of anything local to Stephenville or Fort Worth, TX... Hi, I work for Knauf Insulation. http://www.knauf.com/ At our plant in Queensferry, North Wales (UK) we manufacture mineral wool insulating materials for domestic use (loft insulation etc) and industrial (building trade) use (cavity wall slabs, roof board etc). The plant runs on Siemens plcs (S7 300 / 400 & WinCC) and mainly ABB drives. Everything is linked by Profi'/MPI The maintenance team consists of Eng. Manager, Electrical Supervisor, Mechanical Supervisor, five Control Technicians, four Fitters and a day Electrician. And loads of contractors. We have just started two apprentices.

I'm not sure what categories would be good. Perhaps we can just discuss them here. I'm an "Other" I work in all industries. I really can't nail it down. Pretty much a "have laptop will travel" type of guy.

I voted other.... I work in the printed circuit board industry, I would of voted 'electronics' (given that option), but I came from the paper industry, who knows where I will end up ....still looking

I work as a Process Control Engineer in a Coated Paper Mill (25 years). I am the resident PLC guru. We have over 100 PLCs mostly AB PLC5. We also have AB ControlLogix, Honeywell IPC, GE Series6 and AB PLC3.

Ken, when you worked in the textile industry you didn't happen to peak up into Danville, VA did you?

Never did any work in VA, but new people that did, even in Danville. I think Rocky Mount, NC was as close as I came to VA. Did a lot of work in NC, SC, AL, and GA. A little in Mexico, and one whole summer in Montreal. Most if not all of the plants I worked in are now closed and in some cases actually demolished. I assume this is true for most of the textile industry. About the only textile segment still doing okay is the carpet industry. I think this is because carpet doesn't have a lot of manual labor involved, and it weighs to much, to make importing by ship economically feasible. BTW, I have been through Roanoke quite a bit, used to take US220 north, and catch I-81 in Roanoke.

Probably a slightly different category than all y'all. I work for a distributor, as technical support, value-add, and training. We have no industry except those that buy from us! Our biggest customer is a material-handling OEM, but we do work in food, automotive, and packaging too. I live in Central PA, and am often found in Eastern PA, Maryland, and occasionally NJ. Grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, VA.

I guess I am an "other". I work in a manufacturing plan where we make molded fiber nursery containers and packaging products. We make all of our products by recycling kraft and paper. We have a plant here in Corvallis Oregon and one in Jacksonville Texas. I am a licensed manufacturing plant electrician and do 90% of the control work for our company. All most all of our production machine are designed and built in house. Mostly because nobody builds the stuff we need. We use mostly Allen Bradley (MicroLogix, ControlLogix, PV and PV+) with the exception of one Omron C200H running one of our machines.

I get involved with any industry that uses motion controllers. There wasn't an all of the above option.
