JRoss Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Hey everybody! Just wondering if anybody else out there uses LinkedIn. I signed up for it at the behest of my friends, and it's a pretty neat resource if you're into internet stuff, like forums and things. My only problem with it is that I can't seem to connect with too many other controls engineers. All my friends are computer programmers, and that's a different world! So if you're LinkedIn, look me up! Quote
Mach Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Has anyone joined this group. I looked into seems like there is a fee. I don't mind the fee but only if it's effective. Quote

Mach Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Did you guys pay a fee? Are you active on it? I guess I'm asking if it's worth it. Quote
TimWilborne Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 There is no fee. You can pay for additional invitations. But if you only invite genuine people you won't burn any of your invites. I still have all of mine Quote

DanW Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 For the life of me, I can't figure out how what it's purpose is, or specifically how to do anything beyond register. It is totally obscure to me how an actual communciation would transpire. Yes, I can enter someone's email address and invite them to join. Big deal. What's it offer? I've registered, received invites, accepted the invitations, but can't figure out how to proceed or do anything with an invitation. So what? I've found people I already know who are listed with Linkedwhatever and whom I would like to contact, but attempting to contact them involves upgrading for a fee. So what's the purpose? If I already have someone's email, why would I register and use this service? If I don't already have someone's email address, and have to upgrade to paid service, I suspect that I dont't really get their email address, rather that the contact gets some form of obscure note, like an 'invitation' (?) to correspond. How would I know that it even transpired? But how would that proceed? What is the fee for upgrading to actually communicate with someone? Is the fee one time or monthly? or per message? Help me out here. I'm willing to listen, but I don't see the point. Dan Quote
