Hello, I have a PIDE Instruction to control a control valve. The CV minimum is 6% and Max is 100% But when ever the SP is not reached and it has to lower the CV it goes to zero rather than maintaining minimum of 6%.

Hi guys. I have a question, with HMI pages. I have to make 20 pages 3 times. Its kind of like layer in layer. At the and of the layers always there are only 2 choices. But ofc course its important the route like what the choose, and what is the order. Like we have to detect lets say first layer page2 second layer page13 third layer is page5 and then we choose the first choice. But if the order is different we have to get a different input from the choice1, like we need different address. I could do that if I make ton of pages, but its sounds crazy. A lot of permutation. (20*20*20*2) I attached a picture maybe its easier to understand if Im not explained well. I am using AB control logix PLC, with logix 5000 software. Do have someone a good and quicker idea, to solve this problem. Thanks ahead. Any idea is highly appriciated.

I have a 1747-L30B SLC Brick and it is set to load from EEPROM on boot S:5/8, Error S:1/10, and Run S:1/12. I need to make changes to the program and then store it to EEPROM via "Comms>EEPROM>Store to EEPROM." When I attempt to store the program with changes, it displays the message "Insufficient Memory Module Size." I assumed the EEPROM memory was maxed out, but I also uploaded the existing program currently stored to EEPROM, made no changes, and attempted storing it back to EEPROM and received the same message. Any advice?

Hello Everyone Im working with Coordinated Motion instructions, specifically MCLM instruction and I Would like to know if there is a way to know the exact End position (XYZ) when parameter Command Tolerance is Set since i need to calculate the distance to the end point, there is no problem as long no command tolerance is set cause I can find the distance using AB=Sqrt ((x2−x1)**2+(y2−y1)**2+(z2−z1)**2) but as some points have command tolerance the X2,Y2,Z2 are unknown. Hope I was Clear Thank you in Advance.

I have some SLC500 that I am attempting to connect to for the first time. I am using a PC with USB, an AB-1747-UIC A with USB connection, running through a DH-485 Link Coupler to the CPU. I have configured a DF1 driver, and a UIC driver both successfully in RS Linx, but the CPU will not show up in RS Who, therefore I cannot connect to it. I have tested that the connection is good to the CPU, as the driver would not be successful otherwise. I cannot figure out why the PLC does not populate in RS Who. Any ideas?

Hello fellas. I am having trouble with understanding the communication between my AB PLC and my Balluff BNI0085, which is connected through an IFM AL1120 IO-link deivce. I am currently running a setup with an AB PLC (L18ER) that is connected to a local network through a network switch. I have connected my IFM AL1120 to this switch, and the IP configuration for both devices have been completed. The communications are made by using two add-on instructions, supplied by Rockwell: The BMC_AOI_PROC_BNI0085 instruction (For the Balluff smartlight), and the Generic_4PORT_IOL (For the IFM IO-link). I have additionally been supplied an ACD-file by my ex-coworker, containing a program that administrates the communication between the two add-on instructions. I have attached the routine from this as a PDF. What works: I can go online with my PLC, and by using the parameter "BNI0085_Mapped_Data.O" I can control the smartlight. I can change the settings for light-mode (Segment, Level, Runlight, Flexible), and the different parameters for each mode. What's the problem: When I change the Mapped_data.O to run in level-mode, I can adjust the light to show the level desired. When I try to adjust the level above halfway, the light switches off, and can't seem to be steady lit (Light turns on/off, random dimming). I speculate this might be due to the small power supply for the IO-link device, and the setting for brightness is not included in the AOI for the smartlight. I therefore tried to adjust the brightness by connecting through the LR-device software from IFM(The same used to configure the IO-link). I added the IODD (IO-link device description, "Balluff-BNI_IOL-802-102-Z037-20190215-IODD1.1.xml") for the smartlight, and connected the device, which is discovered in the device list once the IO-link IP has been entered. I can read the values from both the IO-link and the BNI0085 devices, and I can write parameter settings to the IO-link device. Whenever I try to edit any parameter for the smartlight, I get the error attached. I am currently trying to follow the SmartLight userguide for the Balluff, as it describes the brightness setting as being in the ISDU index 51hex, but I don't know how this pertains to the AOI. I am in over my head with this issue, and I don't know what information is needed or what is unnecessary. I've tried to include all that I think is relevant, I'll gladly provide what might be missing. Any help is greatly appreciated, cheers :) Balluff_smartlight_com_MainRoutine.pdf

Hi All, and apologies for what is probably a proper newbie question. I have a Mitsubishi GOT2000 (GT2710) connected via DH485 to an Allen Bradley SLC500. Most of it works fine except for one base screen, which when opened doesn't get updated with any values. Opening any overlaying window screen will then causes the underlying base screen to then get populated. It's almost as though the first screen doesn't know where to get it's data from until the second screen is opened. As before I'm a beginner with this, so hopefully there is a simple setting that I haven't spotted. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, I'm looking for help with the string exchanging between GT25 and AB CompactLogix. I'm reading recipe data from SQL via MES interface to the local devices such as GD3000. I want to move the string held in the registers GD3000-3009 (20 characters) to the string tag in the Allen Bradley. The problem is that in the scripting I cannot enter the AB Tag, because when I imported the CSV with the string tags their data type is STRING, and the scripting in GOT accepts only numerical datatypes such as WORD, etc. Has anyone found a way to handle that?

Hi! I would like to ask your help. I have a problem with an allen bradley touch panel. I would like to know which user is active. Like maintenance, administrator... Is there any dedicated tag to decide and to convey it toward the plc (also ab). If there is none. Can anybody suggest an alternative solution ? Thanks ahead in advance.

Hey all - I am stumped and looking for some assistance. I have a project in studio 5000, v.32 where I have some ABB drives that are not recognized. I've installed the EDS files, exact same one my co-worker besides me did, and mine will not go recognized and it is driving me crazy! I've done it while online with the PLC and offline, still to no avail. I've also installed the EDS files by going through Tools>EDS Hardware Installation and by right-clicking on the ABB drive in the controller organization tree and registering EDS file. Thanks for any assistance, -k

Hi all. I've been tasked with installing/configuring a development box (dev studio 2017 U3 SP1) and then creating a test application using Intouch to communicate to a bunch of rockwell PLC's on the test wall. Normally we would use Citect or FactoryTalk Studio but unfortunately the customer has a couple of OEM InTouch panels (I think communicating with Siemens PLCs *shudders*) and wants to go this route. Anyways. I spent a day installing and configuring a windows 10 development box with 2017 U3 SP1, Hit the windowmaker tile and started to cry.... The new AVEVA website is practically useless, and I'm still waiting to be contacted from technical support. I have used an older version (much older maybe 10 or 15 y/0) of the intouch software which was interfacing a triconex PLC, It looks like the developing of screens hasn't changed too much, however, Q/ What exactly do I need to download/install for my communications? I've read the PDFs that installed with the dev software and watched a bunch of youtube vids (and fruitlessly searched the aveva knowledgebase) and there looks to be more than one way to skin the cat. Maybe I missed the option in the multitude of installation screens to add additional drivers?? It looks like I need either SuiteLink? or ABCIP version 7? (assuming they are not the same thing??). I can only see ABCIP version 4 (dated 2012) on Aveva (and a tech note about version 6.? and 7.0 potentially crashing the L8x range of AB PLCs) and I'm sure suitelink is a collective term for any and all drivers It seems like it should be a very simple and obvious thing to do but I'm stumped. Any assistance GREATLY appreciated Regards Dave

Hello PLC gurus, I have a really noob question to ask. I am new to ethernetIp programming. I have a 1756-L61 that is supposed to communicate with another device over EIP. The Ethernet object assembly is set like this Input assembly instance: 100. Size 1 Output assembly instance: 254, configuration instance:1, Size 0 Read data: 2 word Write data: 2 word Does anyone know how I can set up the producer/ consumer tags to read and write to the data block over eip?? I thank all of you in advance

Hi there! I have a problem with a process. The bottom line is I have a quite big asynchronous motor (about 110kw), with this motor I would like to fill a pool. There is a sensor that monitors the level. Im setting the PID for the motor control, it seems to be good, but unfortunately the fultuation is very big, however the level is perfect. I send a 4-20 mA signal to the inverter. Actually, it is almost everytime changing. I think it is not good for the motor. the changing scale is between 100 and 600 rpm ... What do you guys think ? Can this cause early motor or inverter failure? I had a thought, I did that I was doing an average and sent the current process data every 3 seconds. It causes that, the motor rpm 100 or 600 rpm.. nothing else, and change it about every 3 or 6 seconds, because of te too much error I think. How can I solve the this problem. The material runs out evenly from the pool, but the control variable is still bouncing. I monitored the process variable and the control variable too and the error too. I noticed that the output only changes when it is very close to the setpoint. for example the setpoint is 5000. And if the process variable is 4950 then the output is 100%. and if the process variable is 4992 then the output is about 67% but, the if the process data is 5010 then the output is 0%. I'd expect that, for example that if the process variable is 2000 then the output is will be 100%. but the process data is 4000 then the output will be 50 % ... and so on.... so I hope I can find a permanent output value. I dont know, maybe I made some mistake.... pls help me in this situation. Thank you.

Hi my problem may have a simple solution but i cant work it out. I need to use the Divide function but it wont let me use a decimal point in either Source A or Source B. Is there a way to use a decimal point in Logix 500 Math instructions? Im using an AB Micrologix 1400 PLC. Can you only use math instructions with whole numbers? is there a way around this? Thanks James

I'm trying to replicate something I've done in an RSLogix5000 file without the usage of those convenient arrays. I have 24 counters, for 24 hours in a day. I have a MapleSystems screen relaying this data in the warehouse. The logic I've tried to implement is as such If bit (HMI assigned for shift start) = 6 --------- Copy C5:78 to C5:130 with a length of ten. I'm trying to copy the 10 counters that will be displayed on the MS monitor into the part of the counters that are connected via tags. It's done like this so that if someone starts the shift at 8, it'll take from 8 + 10 hours into the same C5:130 ten registers to display it on any shift. When I copied c5:78 --> c5:130 w/ len:10 it copies the first value C5:78 into the tenth register C5:130, when I'm trying to have it copy those ten into the C5:130 starting ten, to display on the screen. What am I doing wrong here? It's as if that length of ten is acting as an indexer and if that's the case, do I have to do 10 copy lines for each hour I want to utilize this logic on? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi guys, I have been trying to sync up my RSLogix 5000 tag to GT Designer 3 (GTD3) objects but I noticed that GTD3 only recognize certain native data types from Allen Bradley Logix5572 Controller (Model 1756-L72). In the documentation that I found, it show that certain AB Native Tags are transferable to GTD3 Data Type (See the attached file "AB Tags to GTD3 Tags" ) One of the User-Defined Data Type from the RSLogix 5000 that I am trying to sync to Text Display Object in GTD3 is called "UDT_MY_CLTR_INFO" here is it's hierarchy of inheritance from RSLogix 5000 Name Force Mask Data Type MY_CLTR_INFO (...) UDT_MY_CLTR_INFO MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME STRING MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.LENGTH DINT MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.DATA SINT[82] In my exported tag which is a CSV file, it doesn't list the sub-classes MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME, MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.LENGTH, and MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.DATA, it would only list MY_CLTR_INFO. How do I link up my "Text Display" Object in GTD3 with the tag "MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME" whose Data Type is STRING and GTD3 does not have a STRING Data Type? I appreciate anyone that took their time to read my problem and any attempt to help me out. Thank you.

Good evening(here at least), I am working on a senior design project that requires the use of a PLC. Due to budget we've had to settle for an older Micrologix 1000 from Allen Bradley. I've managed to get the software running and connect with the programming port. The problem I have right now is trying to decipher how I would connect a load cell(Such that it causes a condition change at a certain weight). Ideally I would want a load cell amplifier connected to an analog input, but I don't think the 1000 has support for that. Would it be possible to use something like the HX711 amplifier(digital output) to be read on one of the input pins of the micrologix? I wanna say the pins don't read a pulse modulated input and I can't seem to register for the AB knowledgebase as the site gives me a web error. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

Writing Firmware for an Ethernet/IP Device
EDI posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hi everyone, we are digital display company that manufactures industrial displays. One of our more popular products are displays that use Ethernet/IP to communicate from a PLC. We are trying develop a gateway device that bridges the PLC (typically AB) to our serial input displays. We need help writing the firmware. If you are interested or have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.
