  1. Hi I have AX522 IO module and when I power it on with 24VDC both CH-ERR2 & CH-ERR4 lights are on. I read in manual this is because of internal Error. Please guide me to solve this problem. best regards
  2. I am not a drive person (far from it...), but I am working on a project using a number of ACS800 drives. On one drive (only seeing this issue on one drive, as far as I can determine) - when I specify a target speed and also specify maximum acceleration - there is a (significant) difference in terms of the accel time whether I have the drive set to internal speed control vs. external (encoder) control. It takes almost exactly twice as long to get up to speed when set to external vs. internal. (And problem with keeping it set to internal is that we lose accuracy at higher speeds, and also at very low speeds...). The most obvious issue would be a bad or improperly set encoder module, but speed of motor is correct (as measured by tach) whether using internal or external. Encoder module was also swapped for new one, with no difference. The only parameter that I am changing is speed by external encoder vs. internal (I think that it is parameter 98.01). Would anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? Thanks for any ideas!
  3. Hello, We are looking for PLC and Robot programmers for a number of open positions across the US and in Mexico. These will all be 1099 contracts and vary in length from months to years (if you want to stay). The majority of the work will be in the automotive industry; assembly, welding, material handling, etc. Please send resume, approx availability and requested payment compensation (in US dollars per hour) to Career@DiPonioGroup.com Thank you so much for your interest! Tony
  4. Hello, On our DCS we have a button that will open an RDP connection to our PLC server and open the .mer file connecting the DCS to the PanelView HMI. This is supposed to be used for troubleshooting purposes only, but that is not the case. Is there a way to prevent operators from operating the HMI through the RDP while still allowing them to have read only access? Thanks, Michael
  5. Dear Mr. PLC forum members, I am brand new to the world of PLC’s and I am looking for advice on PLC platform selection for a device prototype. The proposed PLC is for a “smart” hydroponic system. Please see system I/O and other parameters below. Parameter 1: Price - I am self-funding this so price of PLC and software is important. Happy to spend ~$2000 for PLC; I/O cards and related hardware. Total prototype cost is around $15,000 including PLC. Parameter 2: Availability & Support in Australia. Parameter 3:Newbie Friendly: I intend to code the PLC myself and have never coded a thing in my life before. Parameter 4:Discrete Outputs: 11; Discrete Inputs: 0; Analog Outputs: 2-3; Analog Inputs: 9 Parameter 5: Capability to extend to IOT for remote access control and monitoring (via cellular or wifi router) As you can see, this is a relatively simple automation project. All my research seems to point to Automation Direct’s BRX PLC but I just wanted to get some suggestions and feedback before purchasing. Anything else that might suit my needs? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Bruce

  7. Hi, to start, I'm very new to Siemens PLCs, but quite experienced on others (mainly ABB). I'm looking to set up a profinet network between an ABB AC500 PLC and an S7-1200. The goal is to transfer variables from an existing S7-1200 (owned by the customer) to my new AC500. It is required that I do this without having to stop the S7-1200. I can set up the AC500 as a profinet device, and have the S7-1200 remain as the controller, but this requires a config change on the S7-1200, which means I'd have to stop the PLC. I tried setting up the ABB as a profinet controller, but I'm having trouble finding a GSDML for the S7-1200 to allow me to do this. Can anyone advise me on the best route to take to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hi, i am currently looking for a software that can open .gop-projects so i can look in the code and upgrade some panels at my current customers place. This software and GOP2000 are ancient and have not had any reply from ABB for several days about this. The GOPs here is starting to fail and we only got 1 spare that are in service almost 24/7.
  9. Hello Everyone, We made a video about the simple explanation of the settings of the abb acq580 driver in the stage of water level control in multi-motor dirty and clean water cycle systems using the automatic commissioning feature of the ABB ACQ580 driver. Your comments and feedbacks are very important for us. Video: Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JANGnykYYyw (For those who can't see the link) The video in our language(Turkish) but we put english subtitles. If you got any question, feel free to ask. Thank you.
  10. Hi. This regards ventilation. A room has two air inlet dampers (pretty much like a big air valve in a ventilation duct). Only one is used at a time to regulate temperature in the room, and the other is then closed. When switching the inlet of air from one damper to another; i have not decided what method to use yet. I consider splitting the regulator output in two and let the one damper ramp down to this value, and the other ramp up. When these values are reached one ramps up to the full regulator output and the other to zero. Not quite sure this is the best solution, and the code is not written yet :) Anyone done anything similar or has suggestions? Cheers!
  11. I'm sorry, guys, but I wouldn't be asking if I hadn't dedicated about 12 hours to this already. Long story short: ACS800 with RPBA-01 Profibus Adapter and RTAC-01 Pulse Encoder Interface. All we send to the drive (aside from CW permissives) is a position reference, and I believe the DriveAP functions execute how the drive will achieve that position. My final aim is to separate the encoder from going back to the drive, to instead going to a FM350-1 Counter module. I'm following someone elses work that is long gone, has been changed multiple times, and comments are almost non-existent. Where I'm stuck is understanding the data coming from the drive and being sent to it. PPO Type 5; DPV 0. In Step7, I have a DB for 20 bytes of data to drive and another DB for 20 bytes received from drive. I understand (with respect to data from drive) that it should be: SW; ACT; PZD3...PZD10 (10 x 2 byte Words). But, when I looked through all the settings in the group 51 parameters, the values in the form of (xxyy; index then subgroup; ex: 106 is parameter 1.06) don't seem to exist in the ACS800 Firmware manual. PZD 3 OUT: 7 --- PZD3 IN: 6 PZD 4 OUT: 8 --- PZD4 IN: 10 PZD 5 OUT: 0 --- PZD5 IN: 106 PZD 6 OUT: 0 --- PZD6 IN: 0 PZD 7 OUT: 0 --- PZD7 IN: 611 PZD 8 OUT: 0 --- PZD8 IN: 612 PZD 9 OUT: 0 --- PZD9 IN: 701 PZD 10 OUT: 0 --- PZD 10 IN: 706 The manual says parameter values 1-99 refer to a "Data Set" and each number specifies a certain word in a Data Set. For example, PZD3 IN: 6 refers to Data Set 2 Word 3, which is defined by paramater 92.03. But, that turns up something about short circuit protection, when what my DB value is displaying a distance (from a linear string pot encoder) that matches what the mill is actually at. The ACS800 manual says Data Set Actual Signal words are defined in Group 92. So I looked there: 92: DS Transmit (From Drive) --- 90: DS Receive (From PLC) 92.01: Status Word (Fixed) --- 90.01: 4501 92.02: 103 --- 90.02: 4309 92.03: 402 --- 90.03: 4505 92.04: 412 --- 90.04: 1 92.05:106 --- 90.05: 3 92.06: 0 Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    ABB ACS800

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had to do this before. I have some ABB ACS800 drives that the customer wants a direction signal from i.e. one of the relay outputs to turn on when the motor is going forward, and off when in reverse. The firmware manual I have for these drives isn't very helpful.
