Facility where I recently started working has several "ancient" Moore APACS DCS systems. The resident guru/expert has announced that after 40+ years with the company he'll retire next year. The existing engineering team I joined was slowly converting from APACS to ControlLogix and this effort will get more attention now obviously. Recently our Schneider Service Rep mentioned that they have an upgrade path for APACS to current tech with no re-wiring required. The presentation was impressive as you would expect. But I am wondering, anyone out there who has actually worked Moore APACS and Upgraded to Schneider Ecostruxure and care to share your joys and heartaches of that trip? -
When installing and running SIMATIC Management Console, I am able to see all the computers on the current subnet and connected to the Management Console PC. When trying to add the Management Console pc to Network an error pops up saying: "A SIMATIC Management Console error occurred. Remedy: restart SIMATIC Management Console or restore data, or re-install SIMATIC Management Console." I have tried reinstalling Management Console and Management Agent several times and restarting the pc, but it still gives the same error. The version is V9.1 SP1 Update 3 and running on the latest version of PCS7. I have read the manual many times and checked everything such as user rights and services running, but nothing has fixed it. I have also noticed that SIMATIC Management Agent Configurator does not see Management Console and just has "-----" for where it should name the console. Any help or guidance would be appreciated, thank you! -
Hello, On our DCS we have a button that will open an RDP connection to our PLC server and open the .mer file connecting the DCS to the PanelView HMI. This is supposed to be used for troubleshooting purposes only, but that is not the case. Is there a way to prevent operators from operating the HMI through the RDP while still allowing them to have read only access? Thanks, Michael -
I have a Reliance Electric Drive Digital I/O Module 57401 that won't close the MCR contact R1/B3. I believe I've narrowed the problem to the 4 input signals WDOK, BD INIT, INIT, FAULT on the Multibus. Does anyone know how to access those signals from AutoMax Executive. I have also made a breakout cable, out of an old output card to access those signals. The problem with the breakout board is that P1-16 does not carry over to the empty slots 5, 6, 7, 8 and slots 11, 12, 13, 14 are full with the drive cards in question. I would also like to find out what drives those signals, especially the Fault signal on P1-16 of the Multibus.

I just need to understand a little bit more about the PCS7 architecture, if someone could point me to a document or a video or something, or just give me a few sentences to break it down it would be greatly appreciated. The reason being, we have a quote that we are working on for a customer over seas and are being told to quote our equipment with an S7-410 PLC. I am very unfamiliar with Siemens in general, but completely unfamiliar with the PCS7. Our equipment is typically if not almost always stand alone equipment that communicates discretely to the rest of the facility. Our equipment is not part of a process line, but rather feeds the process line equipment what it needs to perform its operation. I have been led to believe that the S7-410 PLC must be part of a DCS, so it does not seem like the correct fit for our equipment. I just want to confirm this and learn a little bit more so I can explain to our sales folks and ultimately the end user why it is the wrong option for us and our type of equipment. Thank you!!! Hi all, I'm fairly new here, as I've not had a lot to do with PLCs. However, I have several decades experience with Yokogawa Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including uXL and Centum XL, CS, CS3000 and VP.
