Hello everyone, I'm facing an issue while trying to go online with a PLC. The firmware revision of the controller is 34.011, but the offline project I have is showing a firmware revision of 33.xx. Due to this mismatch, I'm unable to establish a connection. I'm relatively new to this company and recently learned that the program on my computer may have been modified by a contractor company, which might explain the version difference. I suspect they may have used a higher version of RsLogix when making the changes. I'm looking for guidance on how to proceed in this situation. Is there a way to update the offline project's firmware revision to match the controller's firmware revision? Or is there another solution to resolve this compatibility issue? Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi guys. I have a question, with HMI pages. I have to make 20 pages 3 times. Its kind of like layer in layer. At the and of the layers always there are only 2 choices. But ofc course its important the route like what the choose, and what is the order. Like we have to detect lets say first layer page2 second layer page13 third layer is page5 and then we choose the first choice. But if the order is different we have to get a different input from the choice1, like we need different address. I could do that if I make ton of pages, but its sounds crazy. A lot of permutation. (20*20*20*2) I attached a picture maybe its easier to understand if Im not explained well. I am using AB control logix PLC, with logix 5000 software. Do have someone a good and quicker idea, to solve this problem. Thanks ahead. Any idea is highly appriciated.

Hi guys, I have been thinking about wether can increase the numbers of produced and consumed tags, between my plc-s. Currently I have two plc it already have produced and consumed tags, but unfortunatelly soon we are running out of free tags. I read the manual and it said I can make 125 dint tags, currently we have only an array with 10 element. If I make a new one and I kinda copy it, with different names, will it be work ? Or do I have to set something else ? Can I ruin the communication with the two plcs ? THanks ahead.

hello, I want to ask, maybe some of you know about this, I want to take a program on compactlogix but it has a firmware version 19.xx while the rslogix application I have is version 21.xx, there are several options offered by the application to be able to take the program, update the firmware in compactlogix or downgrade the rslogixku application to version 19.xx. if i upgrade the firmware in compactlogix, what about the program is the program safe or not, and if i upgrade the firmware will the program in compactlogix work properly?

COMMAND LOGIX is a command line tool that works with Logix Services to automate various functions in Logix using a CLX file as setup. The functions include Upload, Download, Partial Imports, Mode Change, etc. The tool comes with an editor to create the setup file. This tool is really useful if you have multiple tools to update or if you have a couple updates to make and you don't want to wait for RSLogix to load. https://www.commandlogix.io/-

Hello! I am using the Plant PAX AOI L_CPU_24_Up and am having zero luck finding out both independently and from tech support what the 16 bits of the Ref_Out.Identity.Status are. The description says Tag to receive CPU data, device status (bitmapped, see documentation). I have a techconnect contract, but cant find the correct documentation where this information lives. Could someone please send me a link or just give me the number of the publication. I attached a screen shot of tag info I am looking for. Thank you!!!!

Hi, All! I am very new to PLCs and I am currently writing ladder logic for an Allen bradley MLX1200. I have a number of inputs which i have addressed in the format: I:1.0/1 etc. which should equate to I:Slot.Word/Terminal. I have checked the SLC 500 Instruction Set document which has informed me that this format should be structured correctly however I still receive the error message "ERROR: Address must be specified to the word level!" Can anyone see where I am going wrong? For reference Slot 1 is a 4-Channel Thermocouple Input Module (1762-IT4). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks C

I had two esoteric question I was curious if anyone might be able to help with. First, I am playing around with way to monitor the internals of a PLC and I was curious if anyone has any idea on why to pull the internal memory off a ControlLogix 5580. Ideally, I would like to avoid just directly reading the config out and reading individual tags. I prefer to be able to get a little deeper. Something similar to the crash dump, the RSlogix software can generator or something like the S7dump.exe tool for the S7 PLCs i.e. getting at the actual memory in specific memory addresses. Second, I was curious if anyone knew anyway to grab the actual binary are sent over to the controllogix after the RSLogix 5000 processes a configuration file. In this case I am looking for something similar to the binary files in codesys not the project file. This might be an assumption. Maybe RSLogix doesn’t ever produce anything like that but I figured I would ask

We have two computers and a plc that we use for training purposes to teach new techs the basics of going online with a plc and simple troubleshooting techniques. For some reason a couple classes ago we started getting an error from one of the pc's when we would try and download a program to our teaching plc. The exact same .ACD file can be downloaded to the plc with no issues from pc-1 but from pc-2 it gives the error attached below. I tried uninstalling all Rockwell related software from pc-2 and reinstalling but this didn't solve anything. Once I download using pc-1, pc-2 is able to go online with the plc and make edits no problem; it is just the downloading of the .ACD file it cannot seem to do. Processor: 1756-L55 ControlLogix5555 Firmware Version: 16.21 pc-1 OS: Windows 7 pc-2 OS: Windows 7 I'll be happy to include any extra details if needed but my team and I are just at a loss. Just short of formatting pc-2 we have no idea what could be causing this.

Hello everyone, Working in Automation for the first time as a Co-op student so i'm fairly new to PLC's and the Automation field in general. I've recently been tasked with converting a RSlogix 5 program from an old PLC 5 project into a Studio5000 project. I referenced the manual (I'll attach link below), and had no issues using the RSlogix Project Migrator tool that I downloaded off the Rockwell website. My problem is that once I convert the program, my I/O tags that were originally sequenced in octets(0-7, 10-17, 20-27, ...) from the RSlogix 5 program, are switched into a sequential scheme in Studio5000 that just increments them in order (1, 2, 3, 4, ...). I hope this make sense, but basically the first seven tags match between the projects, but then I:010 in rslogix 5 is equivalent to I[8] in 5000, I:011 is I[9], and so on and so forth. Has anyone had this issue before and found a way to have Studio5000 keep the original octet scheme? I don't see this normally being an issue, but the customer has specifically asked that the I/O tag names be kept the same as the original program. Thanks for any help. - Ben Converting PLC-5 reference manual link: https://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/rm/1756-rm085_-en-p.pdf

To Whoever might read this: I am currently a journeymen electrician in CA with 12 years experience in the installation, Maintenance and design of commercial electrical systems. I have limited Industrial experience, but I know enough to get myself around without blowing myself up or the customer and their infrastructure. Recently, I have taken a few online courses on PLC programming using RSLogix Micro Lite. I realize this is very entry level stuff, but I thoroughly enjoy the process of forming ladder logic and problem solving and I believe my experience in electrical theory and installation has helped me understand the natural flow of this logic. My interest in this field goes back 10 years or so and I am just now getting around to learning the languages and logic behind the PLC's that I have built entire electrical infrastructures around. With that said, as a full time service electrician who just landed a job in the wastewater electrician/mechanic field, I am seeking opportunities to learn and grow in some form of internship or unpaid position as long as the workload is either remotely operable, or somewhere based out of the greater Sacramento, CA area. I do not want to sound picky, but I am a young father with a full time career, newly married and a busy full time job schedule to keep up with. SO, I am definitely interested in any opportunity that will give me experience to add to my abilities as a programmer for future ventures. Thank you for your consideration! MtHowe15 P.S. I am also TOTALLY up for any hints and tips as to what a good next step would be towards gaining experience!

Hi my problem may have a simple solution but i cant work it out. I need to use the Divide function but it wont let me use a decimal point in either Source A or Source B. Is there a way to use a decimal point in Logix 500 Math instructions? Im using an AB Micrologix 1400 PLC. Can you only use math instructions with whole numbers? is there a way around this? Thanks James

Hi Guys! You can read my problem below, if anybody can help, please do it. Thank you. So, I have 4 knife. You can set the cutting width for each knife separately. The problem is, there is a lot of size. There is an example: No1 size: #1: 20 mm, #2: 25mm, #3: 30mm, #4: 25mm (#1=Knife1.......) No2 size: #1: 22mm, #2:24mm, #3: 32mm, #4: 27mm What is make the problem more difficult is There are plenty of type code too. Like X1, X2, X3, Y1, Y2, Y3 ..... This is the main material code. and you can choose the belogging size. So you can select for X1 to No1 or No2 ... but you can select for X2 to No1 or No2 or any sizegroup you want. I can solve it with a lot programming, like deal every possible situation ... but there is a lot time .... :S There is a touch panel where you can set the values. Anybody have another idea for this problem ?

I have a configured and working FT Transaction Manager, but the computer it’s installed on needs to be replaced and now I'm trying to install FTTM on different computer. I’m trying to complete the configuration "checklist", but when I get to the "Define Data Points" step, there are no applications in the "Select an Application" pop up window. What's wrong? I'm new to all of this...

I'm trying to replicate something I've done in an RSLogix5000 file without the usage of those convenient arrays. I have 24 counters, for 24 hours in a day. I have a MapleSystems screen relaying this data in the warehouse. The logic I've tried to implement is as such If bit (HMI assigned for shift start) = 6 --------- Copy C5:78 to C5:130 with a length of ten. I'm trying to copy the 10 counters that will be displayed on the MS monitor into the part of the counters that are connected via tags. It's done like this so that if someone starts the shift at 8, it'll take from 8 + 10 hours into the same C5:130 ten registers to display it on any shift. When I copied c5:78 --> c5:130 w/ len:10 it copies the first value C5:78 into the tenth register C5:130, when I'm trying to have it copy those ten into the C5:130 starting ten, to display on the screen. What am I doing wrong here? It's as if that length of ten is acting as an indexer and if that's the case, do I have to do 10 copy lines for each hour I want to utilize this logic on? Thanks so much in advance!

I'm having a difficult time updating some HMIs on a production floor using both Rslogix5000 and EzwarePlus. I've exported my CSV from RS, and in the importation stage, it shows I have no tags. However literally everything on the screen is already linked up to tags. When selecting an objects properties and clicking tags there, everything shows up. When in the address library nothing shows up, and my CSV after clicking import, does nothing. Is there something brutally straight forward here that I'm just missing?

I'm having a tough time clearing the entirety of an array. I've tried using the copy function, the clear, the fill and the the file synchronous copy functions. I'm solely trying to copy 0's into the entirety of a 20 tag array. Example Tag[0] to tag[20]. I saw another thread here: http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?/topic/14678-clearing-an-array-in-rslogix-5000/ However, that didn't help me. Anyone have any shortcuts here? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi guys! Can anybody help me? I have an existing controlnet network. How can I connected a new module? Like an 1794 IB16. What should I need to do after I connected the new module? One more question: What's the difference if I do not connected the new module right after the last module, but I connected between already existing module. Then what should I need to configure. If anybody want to help, please write like step by step. I'm a beginner, but I want to imporve myself. Thank you for your help. I almost forget, I need to work with Allen-Bradley PLC, and I have RSLogix 5000 software.
